Blake Harris
Blake Harris has been a professional writer, journalist and researcher for more that 30 years. He began his career researching and writing for British magazines and BBC television. The discovery that people would pay him to do what he loved to do eventually lead to assignments throughout much of Western Europe and for a time, his articles were syndicated to more than 30 countries.
He has written on such diverse subjects as business, politics, government, education, entertainment, marketing and new technologies. After returning to North America, he spent several years writing for Mclean Hunter and other business and consumer magazines such as Canadian Business and Small Business magazine. For several years, his syndicated articles were regularly published in over a hundred American newspapers. And for the last 12 years, he has been a senior editor with Government Technology magazine, the leading American publication dealing with the impact of new technologies on state and local government. He was also editor of the magazine’s award-winning Visions supplement and is currently editor of its Digital Communities magazine and web portal.
In recent years, he has also undertaken a number photography projects and his photographic work has appeared in several publications.
Additionally, he has written for film and video production companies in the past and now has returned film production through the development and production of documentary films. These films aim to raise awareness on how new technologies are driving and fashioning our planet’s future, both for good and bad. And they seek to highlight the vital need to ensure that vested interests do not adversely control the directions of scientific research and technological development.
